A mong the Signs of the Last Day as disclosed by Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is that “time would move faster - so that a whole year would pass like a month, a month would pass like a week, a week like a day, a day like an hour, and an hour like the amount of time it takes to kindle a fire.”

            By using computers and other electronic devices makes it easy for us, doctor, and other health care providers (such as hospitals, labs, and X-ray facilities) to store, share and access our health information. Using computers in this way is known as Health Information Technology (HIT) or Health IT.

            Health information technology may be useful for reducing medical errors by transmitting accurate information electronically and eliminating mistakes due to misreading doctor’s handwriting, reducing health care costs by decreasing the need for repeat medical tests by different doctors and eliminating storage space and staff time to maintain medical records and by decreasing medical errors and assuring that all your health care providers have accurate and timely information.
              So far I've never seen being practices at normal range of private hospital. They still practices traditional method, where they feel it closer in touch with the patient itself.

            Personal health record (PHR) is an online document with information about our health (and the health of family members) that  keep us up to date for easy reference. Using PHR, you can keep track of your family’s health information, such as the date of your children’s immunizations, last physical exam, major illnesses and operations, allergies, or a list of family medicines.

So far I’ve seen a lot practices at private hospital, such as Rohana & Razif maternity hospital, Subang Jaya Medical Cemtre SJMC and Columbia Asia Hospital. 

            An electronic health record (EHR) is computer-based document that is used by doctor, doctor’s staff, or a hospital. An EHR (similar to your old paper medical chart) contains health information from doctor and other health care providers. A typical EHR has information about health conditions, allergies, treatments, tests, and medications.

Hand phone and risky behavior

Before I go future, lets me explain what is risky behavior at Nestle manufacturing. It is a behavior that puts you at risk for a bad consequence also known as an act that near miss to incident or accident.

 Therefore, what is the consequence of hand phone and risky behavior?

At the beginning I’m also wonder why management put it under risky behavior while at the same time the plant are operate with IT & IS (Information system) including Global excellence Business which is the integration of various system and mapping or migration with SAP core system and also including the application of intranet, extranet and internet to fluent our daily operation. It is contradicts between the safety procedure and our daily routine operation.

Unsatisfied rumors spread like a virus, until NCE (Nestle continuously excellent) and safety champion gave a talk. That the time everybody agree including me. Why?

Let’s me elaborate, Parato study have done at nestle around the world, and Philippines is the pilot and champion project for safety, which is the best safety practices in the world. The result from Parato study show that hand phone is the big contribution, which is more than 60% compare other factors (Nestle BO shah Alam complex, WOR SHE 2011). How?

Most of the accident that related with hand phone causes from careless not focus and take grunted. Another simple accident but cases fall under first aid, is when the victims use phone while climbing to the canteen, consequently, he misses step and injured. Due to this circumstance, nestle was came out with risky behavior observation, which is for every staff, visitor, contractor regardless their position and interest, must stop walking while using the phone either for answer the call, sms, mms, or while using gadget such as I –Pad, I-Phone or smart phone. If the staff was caught more than 80% upon this risky behavior, the factory manager itself will give counseling, reminder or warning letter to the victims, and if he/she caught accident causes of hand phone, strictly warning letter will give to them.

What’s next? Let’s take it as a positive behavior. Phone, smart phone or IT gadget is very important, and it is important in our daily routine, but the question is, how, when and what method is applicable, suitable and appropriate to apply. The answer is simple, “up to the users”. At any single things that we want to do, thing for the safety first, even as simple as to answer the call, the good and best safety practices is “stop and answer the call”, don’t think how hard or vied this behavior but think what will happened to our love one if the accident happened.

GPS System

GPS? Lets me explain the definition of GPS. by referring online dictionary, GPS is the Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.

But, how does it work? GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the software.

           Therefore, what is the interrelationship with daily activities?

GPS can be said as an extremely accurate base of the multi channel design. As my experience working at Palm Oil Industries (ALAMI Vegetable Oil Products Sdn Bhd), whereby this technology has made the company more efficient and able to curb thief of Palm Oil, as we know for every 40mt Tanker will carry the commodities worth (RM 109,160.00). Try imaging how risky and valuable that cargo.

With the extent of this matter, most of the transporter company installing this GPS system in order for traceability, monitoring and guidance purposes, and also to ensure that the cargo will arrive accordingly at the right time and right location.
